The KURU dog school is our centre for breeding and training in Northern Tanzania

The school is well-positioned to highlight the work of conservation dogs and to be a regional center of excellence in dog and handler training .

  • Training dogs

At the school we breed and train dogs to detect illegal wildlife products, to track poachers in the field and to find snares and traps set to kill animals.

  • Culture of Care

The KURU team take a caring approach to handling dogs. Our culture of care pervades all we do and has been a key reason for the success of our dog teams.

  • Science

We are determined to improve the measurement of the work we do. The use of our dogs in ecological monitoring can help governments and conservationists better understand - and therefore protect – their wildlife populations.

  • Veterinary

Kuru work with vets from all over the world to develop better ways of keeping conservation dogs healthy and happy. We are working to improve treatment protocols and ensure that conservation teams across the region have the veterinary supplies they need.
